Israeli Army Bombed Beirut’s Suburbs and Ain al-Hilweh Camp Overnight

Israel launched additional airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, bombing several neighborhoods shortly after ordering residents to evacuate.

The air raids targeted areas including Laylaki, al-Marija, Haret Hreik, and Burj al-Barajneh, according to the National News Agency. Several residential buildings were destroyed in the attacks. Israeli warplanes also dropped thermal flares over the area, according to Al Jazeera.

This escalation followed the Israeli army’s urging of residents in Dahiyeh, which has been heavily bombed since the intensified attacks on Lebanon began, to evacuate their homes.

Five dead in Israeli strike on Sidon’s Ein al-Hilweh Camp

The Ein al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp, located near Sidon in southern Lebanon, was struck by an Israeli airstrike last night. According to the Al Mayadeen news outlet, at least five people have been confirmed dead.

The airstrike targeted the home of Munir al-Maqdah, a brigadier general with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, a coalition of Palestinian armed groups affiliated with the Fatah movement.

Reuters reported that this marks the first Israeli strike on the overcrowded Ain al-Hilweh camp, Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp, since fighting between Hezbollah and Israel began in October of last year.

On Monday, Israeli attacks resulted in at least 95 deaths and 172 injuries across Lebanon, as reported by the Health Ministry’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center.
