When a Wall Street Journal investigation concluded earlier this December that Israel had used white phosphorous munitions in southern Lebanon, much damage had already been done.
White phosphorous, a chemical weapon that causes severe burns and respiratory diseases, was used in wide fields in southern Lebanon during ongoing clashes between the occupation and Hezbollah along the border.
The result? Ecological warfare that will have damaging consequences for several years, much like what the havoc and destruction Israel had unleashed on Lebanon in the days preceding the end of the 2006 war.
