As Israeli forces escalate their genocidal campaign and continue blocking humanitarian aid, famine has intensified in Gaza.
Gaza’s Health Ministry has reported that 11 people die in the past 24 hours due to the blockade and deliberate starvation, bringing the total number of people who died of famine- and malnutrition-related deaths to 300, including 117 children.
As of August 15, 2025, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) officially declared famine in Gaza, with over half a million people in the Gaza Strip facing catastrophic conditions characterized by “starvation, destitution, and death”, while another 1.07 million people (54 percent) are in a state of Emergency and 396,000 people are in a state of Crisis.
Israeli Attacks Continue, Targeting Humanitarian Workers and Journalists
Israeli strikes have continued on Gaza, targeting a humanitarian team in Deir el-Balah and killing three of its members: Saqr Abu Mzeid, Wissam Abu Mughayseb, and Osama Abu Khamash according to Megaphone.
United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese denounced the attack in a post on X.
“Rescuers killed in line of duty,” Albanese said. “Scenes like this unfold every moment in Gaza, often unseen, largely undocumented. I beg STATES: how much more must be witnessed before you act to stop this carnage?”.
The post then called for breaking the blockade, imposing an arms embargo, and imposing sanctions.
An Israeli attack on the Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza killed at least 20 people according to the Palestinian Health Ministry, including four journalists. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that the attack took place across two stages, one missile hitting first, then another missile hitting moments later as rescue crews arrived.
The attack brings the total death toll of Palestinian journalists in Gaza since October 7, 2023 to at least 274 according to an Al Jazeera tally.
