Twenty-Five Killed in Lebanon Since Dawn Amid Intensified Regional Attacks

Israel has rejected global calls for a ceasefire with Hezbollah and is maintaining its bombing campaign, which has resulted in 25 people killed since this morning on September 27, according to Lebanon’s Minister of Health Firass Abiad.

Since Monday, more than 700 people have died and approximately 2,600 others have been injured in Israeli strikes on Lebanon.

Tens of thousands have been displaced, with the International Organization for Migration reporting that 64,000 individuals have sought refuge in more than 500 makeshift shelters across the country.

As Israel continues its strikes in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for attacks on Haifa and four other Israeli cities.

Additionally, Yemen’s Houthi rebels and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have launched strikes against Israel today, and five Syrian soldiers were killed overnight in an Israeli airstrike.

Here are today’s developments so far.

Israel pounds Lebanon in the south and east

Today, Israel’s military continues to bombard southern Lebanon, asserting that it is targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in the area.

Israeli airstrikes have struck several areas in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh region, with one attack demolishing a building near the National Evangelical School, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).

Another Israeli strike hit a home in the southern town of Aitit in the Tyre district, completely destroying it, as reported by Lebanon’s Annahar news outlet.

Nine members of the same family were killed in an overnight strike in the southeastern Lebanese town of Shebaa when an Israeli air raid targeted the three-storey house they were occupying, according to NNA. The town’s mayor has since confirmed to Reuters that four of the victims were children.

NNA has also reported that Israeli forces bombed multiple towns near Baalbek in the eastern Bekaa Valley, igniting large fires.

The first strike occurred at 2 AM, targeting a two-storey building in Duris and igniting a vehicle in its garage. The second attack destroyed a building that housed a pharmacy, an antiques shop, a carpet store, and two vacant apartments, causing a fire that took four hours to extinguish. A third attack took place in Rasm al-Hadath at 2:20 PM.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties.

According to NNA, many supermarkets in Bekaa have closed due to the attacks, leading to a fuel crisis and shortages of essential supplies.

The city of Baalbek is also experiencing internal displacement, although many residents are choosing to remain in their homes despite the risks, according to Al Jazeera.

The Israeli army announced this afternoon that it also conducted strikes on Sidon.

Houthi rebels launch attacks on Tel Aviv

Today, Yemen’s Houthi rebels announced that they had fired a ballistic missile toward southern Tel Aviv and launched a drone at the coastal city of Ashkelon.

Ali al-Qahoum, a member of the Houthis’ political bureau, stated on X, “The major, strategic, effective, and influential Yemeni operations are continuing in their fifth phase.”

In a statement, the Houthis pledged to maintain their attacks on Israel until its “aggression against Lebanon and Gaza ceases.”

The Houthis have previously launched drones and missiles toward Eilat, a southern Israeli port city, and have conducted attacks on Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea since November, which they describe as a campaign of solidarity with Palestinians and opposition to Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza.

Hezbollah strikes Haifa and three other Israeli cities

On Telegram, Hezbollah announced that it launched Fadi-1 missiles at the Israeli town of Kiryat Ata today, which borders Haifa, firing dozens of missiles this morning.

In response, the Israeli army reported detecting approximately 10 projectiles over the Bay of Haifa, some of which were intercepted, while others landed in open areas. The army stated that there were no reported casualties.

Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for four attacks on Israeli territory.

The first strike targeted the city of Kiryat Ata in the Haifa District with a Fadi-1 missile. Additionally, Hezbollah launched two rocket attacks on Tiberias, situated on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee in northeastern Israel. The fourth city Hezbollah reported attacking today with the Fadi-1 missile is Ilania, located west of Tiberias.

The attacks on Tiberias resulted in at least one injury, with a local medic reporting that a person was struck by falling shrapnel, according to the Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel.

The Israeli army stated this afternoon that its warplanes targeted the Hadda area in southern Lebanon, claiming it was the location of Hezbollah rocket launchers used to strike Tiberias.

In a Telegram post, Hezbollah stated that the strikes on Israeli cities were in retaliation for Israel’s “barbaric” attacks on Lebanese “villages and civilians.”

Islamic resistance in Iraq launches assault on the Golan Heights

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility for a third attack on Israel on September 27, stating that it launched drones at a target in the Golan Heights.

Earlier, the umbrella group of Iran-backed militias reported firing a missile at a “vital target” in “the occupied territories” and deploying drones against another target in the Golan Heights, according to Al Jazeera.

The group emphasized that it “confirms the continuation of operations against enemy strongholds at an escalating pace.” There has been no immediate comment from Israel.

Since the onset of the war on Gaza, the group has conducted dozens of rocket and drone attacks targeting both Israel and U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria.

Five Syrian soldiers killed in Israeli strike

According to SANA, the Syrian news agency, five Syrian soldiers were killed overnight in an Israeli strike on the Syria-Lebanon border. The report also indicated that one person was wounded in the attack.

Israel has not claimed responsibility for this incident. However, on Thursday, the Israeli army confirmed a separate strike on the Syria-Lebanon crossing, stating that it was carried out to prevent the transfer of weapons to Hezbollah.
